What We Offer

Six focused programmes, each led by teachers trained in classical Islamic scholarship and modern online teaching methods. Select a tab to read the full details.

Core Programme

Quran Recitation & Tajweed

Every student begins with an assessment of their current recitation, then follows a personal plan that moves at their own pace — whether that means starting from the Noorani Qaida or refining Tajweed rules for someone who already reads fluently.

Classes are one-to-one over live video, so the teacher can correct pronunciation the moment a mistake happens rather than let it become a habit. Memorisation (Hifz) support is available alongside recitation for students who want to progress toward that goal.

We keep sessions short and consistent rather than long and infrequent — most students find 3–4 sessions a week of 30 minutes builds far better recitation than one long weekly class.

What You'll Learn

  • Correct Arabic pronunciation (Makhaarij)
  • Tajweed rules applied in real recitation, not just theory
  • A memorisation plan and revision system, if desired
  • Confidence reading independently, at your own pace

Core Programme

Hadith Studies

This programme introduces students to the science of Hadith — how sayings of the Prophet ﷺ were collected, verified, and preserved — and walks through selected narrations from collections such as Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

Rather than memorising narrations in isolation, students learn the context behind each one and how it connects to everyday practice: worship, character, family life, and dealings with others.

The course suits both beginners wanting a first introduction and older students who want a more structured, text-based study alongside their Quran classes.

What You'll Learn

  • How Hadith were collected and authenticated
  • Selected narrations from the major collections
  • How Hadith inform daily Islamic practice
  • Basic Hadith terminology (Sahih, Sanad, Matn)

Core Programme

Arabic Language

Our Arabic course is built specifically for students of the Quran — vocabulary and grammar are introduced using words and sentence patterns that actually appear in the Quran, so language study directly strengthens recitation and understanding.

Students progress from reading and writing the alphabet, through basic grammar (Nahw and Sarf), to simple conversation and eventually reading unfamiliar Arabic text with real comprehension.

Classes stay practical throughout — every new rule is immediately applied to a real verse or phrase, not drilled in the abstract.

What You'll Learn

  • Reading and writing Arabic script fluently
  • Core grammar (Nahw & Sarf) explained simply
  • Vocabulary drawn directly from the Quran
  • Basic conversational Arabic

Our Specialty

Toddler Counselling

This is our specialty — the programme most families come to Thifl Academy for first.

This is what sets Thifl Academy apart: dedicated, age-appropriate counselling for toddlers and young children — not a scaled-down adult class, but a programme built from the ground up around how very young children actually learn.

Sessions use short attention-span-friendly activities — nasheeds, simple stories, gentle routine-building, and playful repetition — to introduce Islamic values, basic duas, and good habits (manners, sharing, kindness, cleanliness) long before formal lessons would normally begin.

Our toddler counsellors are trained specifically in early-years engagement, so parents get a teacher who understands both the deen and how to hold a three-year-old's attention — a combination that's genuinely hard to find elsewhere.

Parents often join early sessions alongside their child, and receive simple routines and short activities to continue building on between classes.

What You'll Learn

  • Simple duas for everyday moments (waking, eating, sleeping)
  • Good manners and Islamic character, taught through play
  • Comfort and familiarity with Quranic sounds and Arabic letters
  • A gentle daily routine parents can continue at home

Core Programme

Islamic Jurisprudence

This course walks students through the essentials of Fiqh — Wudu, Salah, fasting, and the basics of daily worship — before moving on to broader topics as the student progresses.

Rather than presenting rulings as a dry list, the class explains the reasoning and sources behind them, so students understand not just what to do, but why — building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation.

This programme is a natural companion to our Thifl Curriculum of Islamic Education guide, available free in the Resources section, and works well alongside Quran and Hadith classes.

What You'll Learn

  • Wudu, Salah, and the basics of daily worship
  • The reasoning behind common rulings
  • How to apply Fiqh to everyday situations
  • A foundation for further study as the student grows

Extra Support

Special Behaviour Sessions

Some children need more than a standard class structure — extra patience, a slower pace, or a different teaching style. These sessions are one-on-one with a counsellor experienced in working with children who need additional behavioural or learning support.

We start with a conversation with the parent to understand the child's specific needs, then build a plan around them rather than fitting the child into a fixed curriculum.

The goal is always the same as our other programmes — a genuine connection with the Quran and Islamic values — just reached at whatever pace and in whatever way works for that particular child.

What You'll Learn

  • A learning plan built around your child's specific needs
  • Extra patience and a flexible, slower pace where needed
  • Regular, honest communication with parents on progress
  • A calm, encouraging, judgement-free learning space
