Online Quran classes vary a lot in quality, and a free trial class is the best window you’ll get before committing. Here’s what’s worth checking.
1. What is the teacher’s ijazah or qualification?
Ask plainly where the teacher trained and whether they hold an ijazah (a formal chain of authorisation) in the areas your child needs — Tajweed, Hifz, or general Islamic studies.
2. Is the class one-to-one or group?
One-to-one classes let a teacher adjust pace to a specific child, which matters most in the first few months while confidence is still forming.
3. How does the teacher handle a shy first lesson?
A good teacher expects a quiet, nervous child in lesson one and has a way to ease into it — ask what that looks like before you book.
4. Is there a clear plan, not just "we’ll see how it goes"
Ask what the first month covers and how progress is tracked. Vague answers here usually mean vague answers later.
5. What happens if a class is missed?
Life happens. Ask about the rescheduling policy up front rather than discovering it after a missed session.
6. Can you sit in on the trial class?
For younger children especially, a parent sitting nearby (on or off camera) during the first class is reasonable to ask for, and a good teacher won’t mind.
